The first week of our adventure is under our belts: we have conquered Half Dome in Yosemite, recovered for 2 days at Benton Hot Springs, baked overnight in Death Valley, and lived it up in Las Vegas. Ashi has headed home to AZ with Princess' rents, Zion was briefly investigated and we are now trying to snugg in for a cool nite in the KOA at Glendale, UT.
Besides the wonderful places we have visited, both Princess and myself are learning to be with each other in ways that we have not previously experienced. Don't get me wrong here...this is strictly professional. Some couples wait a long time to get to know each other's secret nuances - we're doing it in one big rush. We're doing our best not to argue, because it's really not necessary, but both of us know that our tempers have flared from time to time. I have gotten to know Princess in a whole new way, and I love her so much more for it.
Favorite parts of week 1: Summiting Half Dome before 10am (ahead of the masses), the first soak at Benton Hot Springs under snow-capped mountains, cycling down Route 6 at 4500 ft, watching the elevation go way up and waaaaayyy down (9945 to -282), Oh, I almost forgot: a wonderfully fabulous first (and most definitely not last) bottle of Chateau La Nerthe 2004...oh baby!!
And I don't know how Hollywood could forget dinner at the Eiffel Tower with my rents and watching the Cirque du Soleil show 'O'. Delicious food and wine, and a show that was beyond amazing, my jaw was dropped the ENTIRE time, everyone should go to Vegas to see that show!
My favorite parts of week 1: Waking up early naturally when camping, laughing at/with Hollywood, Ashi's squishy at seeing Mom and Dad, S'mores, hot water after a most challenging hike, the freedom of cycling almost vacant roads, an F-15 flyby and dogfight over Panamint Valley (oh boy!!!), the amazing diversity of the earth; the color, the texture, the temperature... oh and the bear in camp in Yosemite... and SLEEPING...
Least favorite parts... Having Half Dome almost cripple me ;] and the gawd awful traffic on The Strip in Vegas.
